What's ur choice?

Hi,
It seems sometimes people are so talented that they'l win anything. More so in sports where u find persons and teams with exceptional ability grossly under achieving. Is it their fault or is it just that their luck wasn't that good enough at cruicial times? Luck is crucial. Crucial in anything and everything. But people just don't realise the big role it plays in their lives. (maybe they do thats y there are so many religions out there!) For every thing that u do right from planning to actually doing it is in ur hands. But the actual results depend on luck always. It is acceptance of that fact that makes u enlightened. It is acceptance of luck's power that actually makes people reduce its impact. And conversely it is the very non-acceptance that leads to defeat. Take for example Hitler, a man whom i admire for his boldness and bravery and whom i detest for his foolishness and racial policies, had he for one second acknowledged the possibility of the Russian winter defeating him he wud not have let his armies set foot in Russia. Does it mean his armies were not good? Does it mean they were not well prepared? They were good and prepared too except for one thing they didn't prepare for bad luck.

A lot of us blame bad luck for our failures and most of them hearing it from us will probably think we are losers not standing up to our faults. Surprisingly its not true. Infact i rate bad luck as the cause of so many failures. Including so many of mine. But its taking bad luck in ur stride and accepting responsibilty for it that makes u a better person. Don't say its coz i dint get lucky just say i shud have tried harder. Next time make sure u negate the luck factor. How do u think big corps like microsoft stand today. Dint they have bad times. Ofcourse they did but they learnt from it and made sure it dint happen again.
If u get it wrong once its ok, get it wrong twice and u r damned.

I take that last one very seriously. The number of mistakes that u did twice is actually a count of how bad a person u r. If u wanna be good get it right. If u wanna be really good get it wrong once n u'l get it right every other time. Mistakes are the secret of success. And mistakes are caused as much by bad luck as your own faults. And if u analyse it later you'l always find that ur luck has its roots in yourself. Something u did or were supposed to do but dint. Small things like that decide fate. Again dont blame it. Accept it. I consider luck in a more spiritual way. I have to be frank i dont believe in religions but i believe in God. Im agnostic. If u ask me y i dont believe in religions its simple but ask me in person n i'l tel u ;) And why do i believe in God. Thats what this whole blog is about. Its about luck. Its about god. U see god is something or someone beyond our control but which is all powerful. Which makes this world run along. Which evens out the inequalities in the world. Which evens out the good and the bad. Isn't that exactly what luck does? Sometimes ppl get lucky they never expected. Sometimes u miss a frend whom u havent seen for so many years and he calls u that day. U go to canteen to have lunch and ur fav girl sits beside u!! Yeah thats coincidence but its still another form of luck. What made the frend call u? What made the girl sit beside u? Its just fate.

In Hindu mythology fate is compared with god but fate is usually associated with big things in life. But even for small things god plays a role. It's just that people call god by different names- luck, fortune, coincidence, fate, fluke. For me it all means the same. I don't worship God because noone can alter their luck by worship. It would be strange for people who worship to be given good things but people who don't be condemned to bad. if u look around u its not how the world is. The world is not biased towards one religion or one form of people. The world is for everyone to live their life in the way that he/she thinks is best. But its according to the way u choose that ur luck will be. Its ur actions which will decide whther the sun will shine on u or whether the clouds will obscure the sun. I dont blame religion. Religion has given this world so many things among others it has given people happiness and peacefullness. That can never be denied. But it is me who has chosen to live my life this way.

So all i gotta say to people religious or not, god fearing or not(the first two dont mean the same always!), atheist or not choose ur way well. Its the way we choose to live our life that decides the way life chooses to give us. Choose the right path of kindness, love and tolerance and you'l find the same waiting for u in ur life.
I wanna quote one of my favorite sayings (which i actually read from my Ethics book!!) Its taken from the New testament.

"Do unto others what you will have them do unto you"
In simple terms Help others like how how you want them to help you.

Jose Mourinho! You are the best......

People say when the day doesn't begin well for you it doesnt get any bettr afterwards. Thats what happened today in my case. The stunning exit of Jose mourinho came as a shock to me and many other Chelsea fans around the world this morning. Infact i was just thinkin yestrday how real the possibility actually is that he may leave given Chelsea's run of 3 consecutive games without a win. I dont know many managers would have been appointed at some clubs if the club owner had the policy of hiring a new manager every time the team goes 3 matches without a win(Certainly i know of one very famous club in a red jersey who wud have had atleast 50 managers in the last 3 seasons!!) But i dont want to get into club rivalries in a blog which i dedicate to the best football manager in the world right now.

Love him or hate him(there are no middle grounds when it comes to jose) u still gotta admit he's the best. Audacious, impulsive, controversial, charming... This is how jose comes across to many football fans around the world. But beneath all that lies a master of his work. He is good in his job and he is not afraid of admitting he's that good. I dont know why people have a problem with that. Who else could have just landed in chelsea and won the toughest league in the world back to back for 2 successive years. Many say its because he had a big transfer kitty. So what even the manager before him had it but he didnt know how to sue them. Besides you cant just buy success in a football club. You also need a football brain. Someone who can put all that money to work. This has been shown at so many clubs most notably real madrid(And i expect it to be shown again by the red-jerseyed-team-i-talked-about-earlier this season :P )

What i liked about him most was his audacity and frankness. He is not a cold and cunning guy who does things in the background and comes across as a good person. he was not a hypocrite. He spoke what he felt and he was honest. And thats characterised by the kind of affection thats shown by the players towards him. I admire him the most for the so-called inevitablity factor thats shown clearly in his stats. I read an article pre season in BBC about the favorites to win the premier league this season. It listed chelsea as favorites simply because while a lot factors must come right for other teams to actually be in contention right at the end, the article said whatever happens chelsea will be there. No matter what happens you know chelsea will turn up and play well and try to win the match. Ofcourse there are times when we have lost but when it happens 20 times in 180 matches u dont mind, do u!

He took a lot of pressure off his players by being in the brunt of the controversy himself. This allowed them to be free from media hype and prepare which is probably as brilliant as some of his tactical changes on field. I just wish the "owner" wud have stuck with him. I expected more from a guy who has made billions as a businessman. I dont think there was anythin horribly wrong with chelsea at the moment. Its just a bit of bad luck that chances dont stick. But if anyone can change that i'l bet it on mourinho but roman just dint see that which surprises me to be honest.

So its testing times for chelsea. I'l be happy if they win anything this year. i think anything's a bonus and i certainly wont be surprised if we see 3 different managers this season. I hope the new manager is good enough and is someone with a reputation to back. I guess it would be a different experience. But accept it or not the special one will be missed. I guess we'l go for a more attacking manager since thats what roman wants. Anyway letting go of jose was a bad call. I just hope chelsea are not made to pay for this shocking decision.

Adios mourinho... We'l miss you...

P.S. Hey Jose how about becoming manager of tottenham! i would love you to still stay in EPL. And if u were in tottenham it wud send the top four scurrying away from White hart Lane. Plus u wont need to buy a new house or find a new school for ur kids ;)

Indy day knocking!

Whew im bak. That in itself is a massive understatement considering the amount of contempt i have towards blogging(much of it stems from the fact that i dunno if anyone's ever gonna read my blog). But then im back for an entirely new reason which is as u should have guessed by now is totally under the mat(secret!!) All i can say is that im just too embarassed by the utter selfishness of the reason that im not willing to open up!

Right then frankly speaking i don't have anything much to talk about here. So why not cook it up about our independence day.(Yeah writing about a topic... that definitely is part of my selfish plans!!) You see right from when i was that little-whos-this-stupid-guy I have always wondered about the pronunciation of this word independence. its actually in-dependence rather than inde-pendence. Hope u got that guys. Just tell it out man in-dependence... gives u a whole new feeling about what the day actually means doesn't it! For me the day is often entwined with customs and rituals almost similar toa religious festival. Whew! What a boring way to celebrate indy day. i think what we really need is a kind of way to market indy day to indians. Market in the sense make it exciting. Make people really get the feel of what indy day actually is about. I see these stuff on ndtv... little old clips which savour the actual moment of in-dependence and the things which followed it. Awesome footage i tell u... It just makes my nerve tingle with a spirit that only a bit of patriotism can give. Amazing! Why didnt they show me those stuff when i was in school.(Ofcourse i wudnt hear a word of it nor wud anyone else if they put it up in colleges now). I still remember indy days in school atleast for me was all about chocolates.. (Yummy!) They used to give more than 5 chocies!! And then they put up plays about freedom fighters in which everyone was so engrossed in laughing at the slightest mistakes that their friends were doing in the play that they forgot they were actually laughing at a gandhi or nehru!! Now it doesnt give u a great impression of gandhi or nehru when u get to laugh at them! Maybe im over exaggerating and the school did give me a pinch of patriotism but most of it i wud say is self imbibed or self imposed. Much of it stems from the students themselves who want to be patriotic.

I dont actually how the so called "NRIs" celebrate indy day. Its probably more special to them because this day gives them a chance to get together and unite as indians in a foreign land. But let me address some of those cynics who say india would have been much better off under english rule. Ofcourse these are truly comments of those people who dont have any idea what being "dependent" means. I ask them would you say ok if u were forced to buy only brand of any item rather than according to your wish? Would u like if u were not allowed to buy cars and bikes because that were meant only for a certain class of people with white skin? In modern term that sounds silly. But pre 1947 that was very much the reality. And the fact that indian in-dependence paved the way for freedom in many other countries is something we all should be proud of. Funny when people celebrate our in-dependence as a momentous event in their struggle for fredom why shouldnt we celebrate it as an even bigger event.

My personal opinion about indy day is that its a low key affair simply because it is made and portrayed to be so. Its the same reason why a new year or a world cup final(be it any sport) is celebrated with a different fervour. What we need is we need a dose of "marketing". There have been many people speaking out that the onus is one the govt to do so but thats almost irrelevant now. It simply wont work i tell u. I feel the onus is on the media. Channels like ndtv are doing a reasonable job but i think certain other regional channels could actually make indy day a much bigger event than just a day for putting new films or putting patriotic programmes which simply DONT inspire.

My Birthday Bash!!

Well as we kick off its that time of the year again. Rocking new clothes, fancy pricy treats! Hang-outs! Fun frolic, gifts and everything that goes along with a birthday. So sometimes i do wonder wats so special about these birthdays. I mean they come and go once a year(agreed they come n go ONLY once a year but still...!!) U see there are sayings which float around which say "Why do u need to celebrate a day which only makes u older by anothr year?!" A good point indeed but im not some middle age sober looking family man who's worried about the size of his tummy!! come on... Im a teenager in every sense of the word. N probably thats probably the only thing im a bit worried about! I turn 19 day after tomm taking me closer to the 20's. Well if i thought childhood was fun teenages were great... Now that means the 20's can only be awesome(Now now does my dirty brain of mine thnk like this because ppl usually get married in their 20's... naa.. i dont thnk im that bad am i... who knowsssss ;)

Well i'l cut the crap and jump into the main thing. Firstly i asked whats so special about my birthday. Well thats simple isnt it... Its MEEEEEEEE!! Thats the only policy i have with regard to birthdays. Ya im a poor humble fellow but i do feel so special u know. That day wen i wake up. I feel so fresh n im just waiting to celebrate every moment of it. Hmmm a really sweet feeling. Its like a day which has been made just for me. A day even for this poor fellow to celebrate life. And birthdays are times when i make it a point to remember all those people who have made a difference to my lives for all these years. The list is ofcourse long but each n every person in it is so special for me.

Now coming to b'day wishes. Actually though it is really sweet when someone wishes me for my b'day i dont get hurt when someone actually forgets it(OFcourse my b'day is special only to me. For others its just another day in the office i guess) Bcoz...er...im not too good in remembering b'days either. Infact im dreadful in that(That in itself is an understatement!) But i do try my best to remember and wish the people i know on their b'days. At the end of the day i feel b'days are all about special things. Gifts which say how special i am... Treats which are meant to convey to my frends how special they are to me. The day itself which says how special life is to us all....
